Do files leave the browser?

No. The GIF Builder reads selected media with browser file, video, Canvas, and object URL APIs. It does not upload source files to SideQuest Studio.

What file formats work?

The picker accepts video and image files. Actual decoding depends on the formats supported by the visitor's browser; MP4 with H.264 is a practical fallback when a MOV or HEVC file cannot be decoded.

How can I make a smaller GIF?

Reduce width, frame rate, duration, or color detail. Shorter clips and fewer pixels usually have the largest effect.

How to make a GIF

Choose one short video or a sequence of images.
Start with a preset, then adjust width, frames per second, duration, and color detail.
Check the preview and rough size estimate.
Select Convert to GIF, then download the generated file.

Supported media

The picker accepts video and image files. Decoding depends on the formats your browser supports. MP4 with H.264 is a practical fallback when MOV or HEVC does not load. Image sequences can use common browser-readable formats such as JPEG, PNG, and WebP.

Dimensions, motion, and size

Width changes the number of pixels in every frame. Frame rate changes how many frames are stored each second. Color detail affects the palette. For a smaller result, shorten the clip first, then reduce width or frame rate.

Privacy

The current GIF Builder does not upload source media or generated GIFs. It uses local file objects, browser video decoding, Canvas, and in-memory object URLs. Closing or refreshing the tab clears the working state unless you downloaded the result.

Practical starting settings

Common problems

The video will not load

The browser may not support its codec. Try an MP4 encoded with H.264, then select it again.

The GIF is too large

Use a shorter source section, reduce width, lower frames per second, or select less color detail. Video-like motion is expensive in the GIF format.

The animation looks choppy

Increase frames per second cautiously. If the file grows too much, shorten the duration or reduce width to compensate.

Colors look banded

Move Color detail toward Cleaner. GIF palettes are limited, so gradients and video footage will not reproduce every source color.

Can I use several videos?

The current tool processes one video at a time. Selecting multiple images creates an image-sequence loop.
